What You Need To Know About Cbd

Cannabinoid, Cannabidiol, Hemp, Marijuana, and THC are all products of the cannabis plant. However, they represent different things for different purposes. This is why these different compounds are often confused and taken to have the same or similar effect in the body. This misconception is because Cannabinoid (CBD) is legalized in some states while marijuana is not. CBD can be administered to different health diseases but marijuana cannot. CBD has gained popularity because of its ability to treat chronic health diseases, but such is not the case with all the other cannabis compounds. What made CBD special?

One thing is certain, CBD products are now becoming a go-to for different chronic health diseases. In fact, the Hemp Business Journal predicted that come 2020, CBD sales would reach $1.15 billion.

What is CBD?

CBD stands for cannabinoids. It is one of the over 100 compounds found in the cannabis plant. Among the compound that can be found in the plant is THC, marijuana and hemp and so on. The two active compounds of cannabis are the CBD and THC. CBD has all the essential nutrient and healing capacity of the cannabis plant, while THC is the compound that produces the euphoric effect called high. It is an intoxicating and psychoactive compound.

Marijuana is usually extracted with a high concentration of THC but the level of THC in CBD is relatively low or zero, hence, it does not cause the euphoric effect associated with THC. This fact is backed up by different research on the effectiveness and component of CBD. In fact, a report by the WHO ascertain the fact. It stated that In humans, CBD exhibits no effects indicative of any abuse or dependence potential. To date, there is no evidence of public health-related problems associated with the use of pure CBD.

CBD health benefits

CBD has been recorded to have the immense ability to effectively treat chronic health issues like pains associated with Alzheimer’s, neuropathic and inflammation, pain, stress, anxiety disorder, insomnia, aches, lack of concentration and so on. It has also been used to treat skin issues like aging and wrinkles. Overall, CBD is a very good product for the well-being of the body system.

One very significant healing ability of CBD is its ability to heal some of the cruelest childhood epilepsy syndromes like Dravet syndrome and Lennox-Gastaut syndrome (LGS). This type of seizure does not always respond to antiseizure medications. When CBD is administered on a patient suffering from any of these two types of seizures, it reduces the occurrence of the seizures and even stops them.

Is CBD safe?

The simple answer to this question is, yes. The reported side effect of using the product is irritation, drowsiness, fatigue, and nausea. These side effects are only temporary. CBD does not have any adverse effects on the patients’ health. It can raise other mechanisms in the body the same way grapefruit juice works.

However, one challenge with the product is that it is often sold as a supplement and not a medication.
